On Saturday, August 13th, 2022, the Maskwacis RCMP responded to a call for service on the Samson Cree Nation where a female reported being kidnapped by multiple individuals and held against her will. The female was forced into a vehicle, threatened with her life, and a firearm was held to her head. After some time, the female was able to break free from being restrained and fled to safety. The female was treated for minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery. 

As the investigation unfolded, the police were able to identify three suspects quickly and two were into custody.

Richard Soosay, a 30-year-old male, and Amy Okeymow, a 37-year-old female, both from the Samson Cree Nation were charged with the following: 

·         Kidnapping with a firearm

·         Forcible confinement

·         Uttering threats

Soosay faces additional charges of pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm while prohibited.

The Maskwacis RCMP are requesting the publics assistance in locating the third and final suspect, Alexandra Raine, a 24-year-old female from the Maskwacis area. An arrest warrant has been issued for Raine who is facing charges including: 

·         Kidnapping with a firearm

·         Forcible confinement 

·         Robbery 

·         Uttering threats

·         Assault

Raine is known to frequent the area of Maskwacis, but also the City of Wetaskiwin and the City of Edmonton.
