The resident of Bentley, especially the teachers and students at Bentley School, have been busy raising funds for a playground being built to honour the memory of Joslyn Snow, a former teacher who tragically passed away in 2017 at only 27 due to a brain tumour.

As of last month, the fundraising committee officially reached their goal of $525,000, and according to Vice Principal of Bentley School Stephen Lush, they just have a few last-minute things to complete before the official grand opening in the spring.

“The playground’s been kind of ready since the middle of the summer, and now it’s just the sport court getting all the lines painted on and the holes drilled for the post holes, because we offer tennis, pickleball, volleyball, handball, basketball, you name it, that court covers all the sports you can think of.”

Lush says they still plan on adding garbage cans, picnic tables and signage to honour Joslyn.

“If we have to we’ll probably try to do one more fundraiser. Make it as nice of a place for people so when they are done playing they can sit down and have lunch or parents can sit and watch their kids and have lunch when they are done. Kind of like the McDonalds playhouse but a little bit bigger and outside.”

The playground has been open to the public since the summer, with the official grand opening happening on May 1st of 2020 which also happens to be Joslyn's birthday.
