With a game ending double play, the Sylvan Lake Gulls have now moved into first place in The Western Canadian Baseball League.

The Gulls beat The Okotoks Dawgs Red Team last night 8-1 in Sylvan Lake at Gulls Stadium in Pogadl Park.

Tyler McWillie from Watrous Saskatchewan hit his second homerun of the season on a night that just seemed to have everything going for the home team. The Gulls had eight hits in the game.

Brett Higgins was the winning pitcher.

Sylvan Lake now have a three game winning streak and have won 8 games with 5 losses.

Bryan Demers, a Sylvan Lake resident says it's really fun to have a local team. "This was my first game and it was really exciting to watch them win. The new stadium in incredible, the atmosphere is fun and it makes you proud to be from here."

The Gulls now hit the road for three games against Okotoks Red tonight, Lethbridge on Friday, and back to Okotoks to take on the Okotoks Black squad on Saturday. Their next home game is this Sunday against Lethbridge. That game is now sold out.
