One of the things that many people are looking forward to about the new Federal Budget is the Grocery Rebate. With inflation making it harder to put food on the table, some low-income or moderate-income Canadians can look forward to a bit of extra money.

$2.5 billion is earmarked for 11 million Canadians. No specific income bracket has been established at this time. On average, the rebate will provide eligible couples with two children with an extra $467, single Canadians with children with an extra $234, and seniors with an extra $225.

It will be a one-time rebate that would show up through the GST rebate system.

No specific date has been chosen for the payments yet.
