Red Deer Rebels-3  Saskatoon Blades-1

The Red Deer Rebels started their best-of-seven WHL Eastern Conference Semifinal with a win on the road.

Friday night, Red Deer beat the home team Saskatoon Blades 3-1 at the Sask Tel Centre.

There was no scoring until the second period when Jhett Larson scored with assists from Christoffer Sedoff and Jayden Grubbe at the 4:28 mark.

Jace Isley would put the visitors up 2-0 with an unassisted goal midway through the third...The Blades would answer back but an insurance goal from Rebels Christoffer Sedoff into an empty net would seal the deal for Red Deer.

Rebels goalie, Kyle Kelsey would stop 23 of 24 shots in the tight checking game. Red Deer would only have 19 shots through three periods.

Game two goes Sunday, 4:00 pm in Saskatoon.
