The Lacombe Pickleball Club will be hosting a fun tournament, coming up on May 5th at Burman University.

Marilyn Maloney, Secretary for the club talked about the event. "We officially formed in April of 2023 so we decided we would have a fun little tournament. We rented gym space at Burman University for that day. The tournament is named in honor of one of our dear founding members who recently died from cancer."

Maloney says the club already has over 150 members. She gave her thoughts on why it's becoming so popular. "I think it's one of the fastest growing sports because of the demographics in our culture. All the baby boomers used to play racquetball or tennis and we needed to find something just a little bit easier on our old bodies."

Maloney added, "It's very easy to learn. You get exercise, you can play indoors, outdoors, summer, winter, fall. It's very inexpensive. All you need is running shoes and a paddle and a ball and you're good to go."
