Lacombe Regional Tourism will once again be hosting their Lacombe Culture and Harvest Festival this weekend (September 23-24th). All weekend long you can take in events, performances, and markets at the Lacombe and District Ag Society Grounds.

“This year is very much built off of what we did last year, but just expanded. We've got a really good selection of artesian performers, demonstrators, and agriculture. It's actually probably the biggest agricultural contingent we've seen at this event,” said Austin Weaver, Executive Director of Lacombe Regional Tourism.

We can expect horse racing and the return of the Alberta Stock Dogs. The Vintage Machinery Club will also be doing a tractor pull, a parade of power, as well as a threshing demonstration.

This year, Weaver says you can expect a much larger event.

“Last year, we only filled up one barn. This year we filled up three barns with various things, including the toy show, the vendors market, the live artesian markets. Then we have six or seven performers for cultural performances coming in,” said Weaver.

He says we can expect Japanese, German, and Indigenous Performers and more this weekend.

Last year, was the first edition of the event being ran at the Lacombe and District Ag Society and Weaver says it was a success.

“We tried a new model for the event and it worked very well and now we have seen it expand and grow,” added Weaver.

On Saturday night, there will also be a barn dance hosted by the Lacombe Performing Arts Centre. Country Pride and Dean Ray Band will be performing for that. If you aren’t too steady on your feet, you can also take part in a dance lesson before the Barn Dance begins.

You can purchase tickets for the barn dance here.

Tickets are available at the gate for the Lacombe Culture & Harvest Festival they are $5 a person or $10 a family. For more information on the Lacombe Culture and Harvest Festival, click here.
