UPDATE: September 20

RCMP and other first responders have cleared from the collision scene on Highway 11.

The collision occurred at approximately 7:05 p.m. on September 19, 2023. The driver of the pick up truck, a 22 year-old male resident of Red Deer was pronounced deceased at the scene. A 21-year-old female passenger in the pick up also sustained serious injuries. The driver of the semi trailer unit was not seriously injured.

BACKGROUND STORY:

Rocky Mountain House RCMP are continuing to investigate the cause of the collision. Traffic has resumed in the area.

Rocky Mountain House RCMP are on scene of a collision between a pickup truck and semi tractor-trailer.

The crash occurred on Highway 11 at the intersection with Range Road 61. 

One occupant of the pick-up truck has been pronounced deceased at the scene.   

Traffic will be re-routed for several hours as the investigation takes place.

Motorists are asked to follow detours established and expect delays.
