The City of Red Deer will be doing construction  near the pathway of Gaetz Park. The crew is working to realign Waskasoo Creek near the walking bridge.

The goal of the construction is to straighten the flow of the creek and prevent erosion of the embankment. Rig mats are being placed on parts of the trail near Gaetz Avenue Bridge and west of Waskasoo Crescent.

Walking trails will remain open but be advised that there may be short delays for pedestrians when the equipment is working. Pedestrians are asked to follow the signage and respect the construction activity.

The project is anticipated to be finished by September 15th, 2020.

Pedestrians in Waskasoo are advised of construction activity that is occurring near the pathway through Gaetz Park as crews work to realign Waskasoo Creek.

The realignment of the creek near the walking bridge will straighten the flow of the creek and prevent erosion of the embankment. As part of accessing the site, rig mats are being placed on portions of the trail near Gaetz Ave bridge as well as just west of Waskasoo crescent.

There are no trail closures in effect; however, there may be short delays for pedestrians when equipment is on the trail.

Construction begun in the area and will continue until approximately September 15, 2020. There will be some activity following construction for surface restoration.

Signage is in place to alert pedestrians of construction activity in the area.
