The Red Deer Mustard Seed is looking for competitors for their Amazing (Car) Race being held this weekend on Saturday, August 22nd.  Like ‘The Amazing Race,’ participants are asked to solve a series of clues that lead them to their next destination.

“It’s an extremely fun event. We have a volunteer committee that’s put the race together. There are different pit stops, and prizes to be won at every location. There are prizes for teams who finish in the top three and if someone happens to raise money for us there’s a prize for that too,” said Scott Tilbury of the Red Deer Mustard Seed.

Tilbury says at every location there is an activity teams must complete before they are given the next clue to move on.

Additionally, teams should be prepared for a busy day. They may even get sprayed with water along the way. Tilbury says the event is guaranteed to be both fun and COVID-19 friendly.

All that’s needed now is participants. Registration begins at 9:00 AM with the race ending at 4:00PM. It  costs only $50 per vehicle. Teams can consist of two to six participants and all the proceeds go to the Mustard Seed.  For more information, click here.

“We continue to fundraise and to help feed the most vulnerable and children who come to our doors every single day. We continue to provide meals so we need help with raising money for food and advocacy and so on,” explained Tilbury.

If you can’t make it to the Amazing Race but still want to support the Mustard Seed there’s a couple other upcoming events you may want to consider participating in. Camp for Hope will be taking place from September 19th to 20th where families will be raising a tent at home for those without a home.

“Families will be given an adventure kit and they’ll camp out wherever—in the backyard, in the house, or at the lake,” said Tilbury.

Lastly, the Mustard Seed in Red Deer is working to provide a COVID-friendly Bowls for Bellies which is set to happen in October.
