Even though we are a couple days into March, Mother Nature’s winter wrath isn't done with us yet, in what seems like an extended winter.

With another 20 cm or so expected in the next few days, Meteorologist with Environment Canada Dan Kulak says there isn't many parts of Alberta that will be spared.

“It’s more like the expression, who won’t get hit? It’s the farthest northern part of the province that’s going to escape this storm, and areas towards like Jasper and Hinton will have a little bit less. Everywhere else across southern Alberta there is various types of weather warnings in effect, either snowfall warnings or winter warnings, so wherever your planning on going in the next day or so, take care and pay attention to whatever is in the forecast.”

Kulak says driving conditions can get especially dangerous when the wind picks up.

“The winds tend to reduce the visibility made by lifting snow up to basically eye level or driving levels type of thing. If the snow is just coming down, the wind doesn’t make much of a difference, but when you start getting enough wind to pick up snow that’s fallen from the ground and pick it back up into the air, then you get into those sort of white out situations.”

The snow is supposed to let up by Sunday, but until then, the roads just get worse the further west and south you go, so Kulak suggest bunkering down if you can until the storm has passed.
