The Great Kids Award nomination deadline has been extended to January 31st. The children nominated will be considered for resilience, leadership skills, determination, and strength.

“The awards recognize children and youth for doing great things for others in the community despite difficult life challenges. They are kids who maybe overcame bullying, had physical or mental illness, or had a difficult living situation,” said Laura Fedoriw, Children's services communications team representative.

Ideally, the candidate will have overcome a difficult situation and will have helped the community in some way despite the difficulties. Currently, The Great Kids Award is in need of more rural candidates.

The Great Kid Award recipient will “get to go to an award ceremony in the fall, they get a trophy, a nights stay at fantasyland hotel, and an attractions pass to West Edmonton Mall,” says Fedoriw.

Nominations should be made by people who are not of familial relation to the candidate. For more information, click here.
