The Central Alberta Film Fest is hosting a series of challenges this weekend for those hoping to get a grasp on filming with their 2021 Film Challenge Workshop.

“Central Alberta Film Festival has partnered with Telus Story Hive to put together some film challenges for up and coming film makers for those who just want to give their hand to try at it,” said Tanya Mullakady

The virtual event will feature several speakers including Dan Whiteside, from Red Deer College, Filmakers Jarvis Grenier and Reuben Tschetter, and other professionals that will be available for questions and mentorship.

“It will be an incredible opportunity to learn how to make a film. Those speakers have much expertise combined amongst them over years of work, making their own films and many of them have submitted films in the past to the Central Board of Film Festival and further than just Alberta as well and get good reviews. To get some opportunity also to have question and answer time with each of them is an opportunity that doesn't happen very often,” added Mullakady.

The film challenges include a 48-hour-film challenge and a cellphone film challenge that will be judged by a panel. Participants competing in the challenges will have an opportunity to win money. Age groups include 12- 17 years old and 18 years of age and older.
