The deadline is fast approaching for the 2020 Women of Excellence gala, and submissions will be closed at the end of the month.

Each year, the Red Deer and district community foundation invites residents of central Alberta to nominate women who are making a difference through their hard work and dedication in their personal and professional lives.

“As the nominations roll in every year we are absolutely blown away by the dedication, heart, and professionalism of the women who are recognized,” Erin Peden, Executive Director of the Red Deer & District Community Foundation said.

“What women in Central Alberta have (and continue) to accomplish is inspirational, which is why this program is essential. They deserve to be recognized for their efforts.

”The gala, which is in its 13th year, not only brings awareness to the barriers women continue to face in professional and educational settings, but fosters an environment for women to stand with, and celebrate one another. “We have always maintained that the honour is in the nomination itself,” Peden said of the program.

“This is an opportunity to shed light on the champions among us who work to create a society every one of us wants to call home.”

Women can be nominated in 12 different categories including Agriculture, Arts & Culture, Athletics, Recreation and Fitness, Business and the Professions, Community Building, Construction, Education and Training, Entrepreneurship, Environment, Health & Wellness, Human Services and Young Women of Excellence.

Women have been nominated from Lacombe in the past, and residents across central Alberta are encouraged to show support for strong women in their communities through a nomination.

Deadline is January 31 and nomination forms can be found online at www.RDDCF.ca.  The Foundation urges anyone with questions about the process to call the office at 403.341.6911.
