The Blackfalds Wranglers started their first round of playoffs with an 8-1 victory over the Ponoka Stampeders Wednesday night in Blackfalds.

Despite outshooting their opponents by ten, and outscoring them by 7, head coach of the Blackfalds Wranglers says he’s not thrilled with the performance.

“We can do quite a bit better, we were sloppy for the most part at the start of the game. We scored on our chances, that’s about it, but we definitely have another gear in us. Wilson got hurt there about 15 seconds in, took us a while to recover from that. We just kind of didn’t play the way we like to play for about half the game. Wasn’t bad, but we definitely have another gear.”

Game two is in Ponoka on Friday evening, with game 3 back in Blackfalds on February 18th, if necessary.
