From Penhold Fire Department:

On Friday November 22 at 11:13 am Penhold Fire crews were called to a vehicle on fire on Range Road 275 and Highway 42.

Fire crews arrived to find a fully involved pickup truck with 2 full auxiliary fuel tanks in the box.

Penhold Acting Fire Lieutenant Bailey McKay said, "We immediately shut down the highway and attacked the fire with a specialty firefighting foam. The firefighters did a great job and the fire was quickly brought under control."

McKay also said they we used a thermal imaging camera to make sure the fuels did not re-ignite.

"We were then able to open up traffic to a single lane alternating East/West until about 12:20pm."

Penhold Fire Chief Jim Pendergast said, "There was no one on the scene when we arrived. Pendergast said that there is heavy damage to the truck and the cause is deemed to be suspicious."

RCMP are investigating. 15 firefighters, four fire units and a command unit along with Public Works responded.

One Penhold firefighter sustained minor injuries while responding. The firefighter did not require medical treatment at the time.
