The Town of Ponoka will host a free drive-in movie event on Wednesday, June 30 at the Ponoka Arena Complex.

Citizens are invited to come park, bring snacks and enjoy Disney’s live action movie ‘The Lion King’ from the comfort of their vehicles.

Andrew Jones, Town of Ponoka Manager of Parks, Recreation & Facilities says they are happy to be bringing it back. “We are excited to host another fun drive-in movie event that our citizens can enjoy while still following COVID-related restrictions during the pandemic,”

He noted the Town hosted a drive-in movie last September that was a huge success. “We received a lot of positive feedback from the families who attended that event, so we are looking forward to welcoming citizens back for this next drive-in movie on June 30.”

First Come, First Served

The parking lot will be open to vehicles starting at 9 p.m. The movie starts at 10 p.m.

The parking lot can accommodate up to 200 vehicles and parking spots will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Town staff and volunteers will be on site to help direct vehicles into parking spots.

In keeping with provincial public health requirements and to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, washrooms will not be available at the Arena Complex. Those attending the event are asked to use washroom facilities at home before they arrive and remain in their vehicles at the event.
