This week in Sylvan Lake Town Council, Mayor Megan Hanson proclaimed September 30, 2022 to be the Town of Sylvan Lake’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

As such, the town has committed to the following:

  • Creating true and lasting reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples
  • Preventing racism, violence, and bullying and the intergenerational trauma and loss of life from the residential school system
  • Affirming that ‘Every Child Matters’

The Town is also encouraging Sylvan Lakers to wear orange shirts to honour all those who have been impacted by the residential school system on Friday, September 30th.
