Several Charity Checkstops in Central Alberta will be happening this Saturday, December 11th so you may want to carry a little extra cash or donations with you, if you plan on heading out.

Lacombe

Big Brothers and Big Sisters Lacombe have teamed up with the Lacombe Police Service for collection from 1PM to 4PM on Mainstreet in Lacombe.

“We will be collecting funds, you can drop the empty, the change out of your change drawer in your vehicle.  We'll also have a little debit machine, if you don't carry any cash with you, we can always collect from you in other ways, if you're wanting to give to us for the charity check stop,” said Wendy Griffin, Community Engagement Coordinator for Lacombe’s BBBS.

They will be collecting monetary donations, new unwrapped toys, and food for the food bank in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters, Santa’s Anonymous, MADD, and the Lacombe Food Bank.

Blackfalds

Central Alberta Victim and Witness Support Society will be setting up on Highway 2A between Blackfalds Motor Inn and Fas Gas from 11AM to 2 PM.

Donations will be going towards assisting victims and survivors of crime and trauma in the communities we serve.

Sylvan Lake

Sylvan Lake’s Annual Christmas Charity Check Stop will be happening from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM at 47 Avenue between McDonalds and Shoppers Drug Mart.

Innisfail

The Innisfail RCMP will be out for their 25th Annual Charity Check-stop between 10:00AM and 3:00PM. They will be located on 50th Street between 48th Avenue and 49th Avenue in Innisfail. Santa and Safety Bear will both be in attendance.

“We will be accepting new clothing, food, new toys, and cash.  Every little bit counts. The charitable organizations this year will be the Innisfail Food Bank, Innisfail Christmas Bureau, the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre, and the Innisfail Youth Positive Assets Coalition,” said the Innisfail RCMP in a statement.
