Lacombe County is pleased to announce that Sandy Point Beach will reopen for the season starting today, Friday, June 5th.

Public washrooms, playgrounds, the parking lot, will all be open, as well as the boat launch, which was never closed to the public.

“To safely reopen Sandy Point Beach and its facilities, we needed to ensure our staff were trained and had access to the proper personal protective equipment and cleaning supplies,” said Drayton Bussiere, Director of Emergency Management for Lacombe County. “The safety of our staff and the public will continue to be front of mind as we move forward with our relaunch plan. We ask the public to ensure they follow all public health orders laid out by the province.”

Signage will be posted at the beach outlining the public health orders individuals must follow at all Lacombe County facilities.

These measures include:

  • Keeping a two-metre distance from others who don’t live in the same household
  • Staying home if you have COVID-19 symptoms
  • Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer immediately before and after touching playground equipment, washrooms, or other frequently touched surfaces.
