From the City of Red Deer: 3:25 

Red Deer Emergency Services remains on the scene of a commercial fire on Golden West Avenue south of 67 Street.

The fire is contained; however, firefighters will remain on scene into the evening. At times, heavy equipment will be used, which may result in variable smoke conditions into tomorrow. 

Residents on O’Brien Crescent and O’Neil Close are able to return home but are advised that smoke may persist overnight.

The Shelter in Place direction is lifted for Oriole Park and Oriole Park West, however, residents may still choose to limit exposure to smoke by staying indoors and closing windows.

If residents experience symptoms, as a result of the smoke, they are advised to call Health Link at 8-1-1.

Due to a commercial fire on Golden West Avenue, there is heavy smoke in parts of our city.

Residents in Oriole Park and Oriole Park West are advised to shelter in place until further notice.

Some residents on O’Brien Crescent and O’Neil Close have been evacuated by emergency personnel.

There are no reported injuries.

Steps to Shelter in Place:

  • Go inside or stay inside.
  • Close windows and doors.
  • Turn off air intake into your home.
  • Wait for further instructions.
  • If are experiencing symptoms, as a result of the smoke, call Health Link at 8-1-1.

Red Deer Emergency Services is responding to a commercial fire on Golden West Avenue south of 67 Street. 

Golden West Avenue is closed south of 67 Street. Residents on O’Brien Crescent and O’Neil Close were evacuated.  There are no reported injuries.

The main body of the fire is contained; however, the fire is not yet extinguished.
