On Jan. 21, 2022, Red Deer RCMP located a stolen vehicle, which had been reported stolen earlier that day. Upon attempts to stop it, the vehicle fled.

Later that evening at approximately 10 p.m., members of the Crime Reduction Unit located the stolen vehicle, but the vehicle once again fled as police attempted to stop it. CRT officers came upon the stolen vehicle after it had struck another vehicle at the intersection of Gaetz and 71 Street where the stolen vehicle had driven through a red light. Following the collision, the suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

Red Deer RCMP members followed and arrested the suspect as he was attempting to gain entrance to a home in the area.

37-year-old Kevin Gallagher of Red Deer County faces thirteen charges, including:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime, under $5000 (x3)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime, over $5000
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Failure to appear (x3)
  • Failure to comply with probation order (x2)
  • Operating a motor vehicle while prohibited
  • Failure to stop or remain at scene of accident
  • Possession of an identity document of another person

Gallagher has been remanded and is scheduled to appear at Red Deer Provincial Court on Mar. 9, 2022
