On September 24th, 2021, the Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, with the assistance of the Wetaskiwin RCMP Detachment members executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant on a residence in the Wildrose Trailer park in Wetaskiwin, AB. The investigation into the trafficking of illicit opioids was initiated after Wetaskiwin saw 5 drug overdoses within a week, including one death from suspected overdose.  As a result of the search warrant, RCMP seized 77 grams of methamphetamine, 8 grams of suspected fentanyl, and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

As a result of the investigation, 4 individuals are facing the following charges:

62-year-old Brian Michael Dupe of Wetaskiwin is charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine (x2)
  • Breach of Probation

36--year-old Kile Andrew Bailey of Edmonton is charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine (x2)

29-year-old Colin Simeon Potts of Maskwacis is charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine (x2)
  • Fail to Comply with Undertaking

28-year-old Kristen Dawn Morin of Maskwacis is charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine (x2)
  • Obstruct Police Officer

All 4 individuals were both brought before a justice of the peace on this matter and all 4 were remanded into custody. Dupe and Bailey are scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court on September 28th, 2021.  Potts and Morin are scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court on September 30th, 2021.
