The Town of Ponoka has launched a Temporary Seasonal Patio Program to assist local businesses in setting up their outdoor patios.

Patio permit fees will be waived under the program and restaurants that wish to set up a temporary seasonal patio on private or public property including sidewalks.

“The Town knows that some businesses are struggling under these health restrictions and we’re committed to doing everything we can to support local businesses during these challenging times,” said Ponoka Chief Administrative Officer Sandra Lund. “That is why development permit fees will be waived under the new program.”

Additionally, the town has committed to streamlining the processes involved so businesses can construct their patios quickly with the Town’s Development Services Department.

Applications for the new Temporary Seasonal Patio Program will be assessed on a case-by-case basis to ensure public safety. Applicants will be asked to provide details of the proposed patio.   You can apply for patio permit by calling the Town’s Development Services Department at 403-783-4431. The temporary program will remain in effect until October 15, 2021.
