At 2:38AM on July 28th three units from the Penhold Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire.

"We arrived to find a small amount of smoke showing at the front entrance,” said Fire Lieutenant Max Johnston.

After a quick 360 degree safety check, crews entered and began an offensive search, rescue, fire control strategy. During the search fire crews discovered hazardous gases, carbon monoxide, inside the house.

The cause of the incident was a failed sump pump. Fire crews disconnected the sump pump and ventilated the house to safe levels. Crews were on scene for 2 hours.
