The World Junior Hockey Championships has officially wrapped up in Edmonton. Team Canada earned silver following the United States 2-0 win in the gold medal game and Finland took bronze after their 4-1 win against Russia.

In December, Team Canada created 45 paintings while they were endured a 14 day quarantine. The players, under an initiative from Tourism Red Deer and The Red Deer & District Chamber of Commerce, took part in a Bob Ross inspired paint night in order to pass the time. The paintings have now been auctioned off for a grand total of $10,660 which will be dedicated to local charities.

Next year, the World Junior Hockey Championships is scheduled to be hosted in Red Deer after the province has successfully distributed the COVID-19 vaccine.
