Meet Me at the Park returns to Red Deer today with the first stop in Bower at 85 Boyce Street. Free, drop-in activities for all ages will be offered from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.

“We know that during the pandemic, many residents felt disconnected from their neighbours,” said PJ Swales, Sport and Recreation Coordinator with The City. “Meet Me at the Park provides an opportunity for residents to get out and reconnect with each other in a safe and fun way.”

Activities offered will vary from site to site based on the amenities available and will include a variety of options for unstructured, creative play. Activities may change based on community interests but may include:

  • Circuit courses, obstacle course
  • Scavenger hunts
  • Soccer/basketball/tennis/pickleball/badminton/baseball
  • Block party games
  • Arts and crafts

“We want residents to come and have fun, but we need to keep some things in mind,” said Swales. “The event is rain or shine so residents need dress for the weather and remember sunblock and water bottles.”
