With a recent increase in credit card frauds being reported to the Lacombe Police Service by local businesses, the Police would like the remind local business owners and the public to be vigilant when accepting credit card payments.

Stolen credit cards are being used and in most cases it is only becoming apparent that the fraudulent transaction has occurred when the cardholder reviews their monthly statement.

Police are recommending that when processing a credit card purchase that businesses are asking for identification.

The Lacombe Police have also recently recovered dyed money from a local business. In this case it appears that the bills were covered in dye from a security dye pack going off.

The investigation with respects to the recovered dyed money is ongoing.

Police are advising local business owners and the public that if they feel that they have come across a suspicious bill or a credit card fraud to contact the Lacombe Police Service at 403-782-3279 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
