Teachers throughout Central Alberta are taking to the streets to wave hello as they drive through the local neighbourhoods of their students to spread some cheer during the pandemic.

Schools in Lacombe, Sylvan Lake, Red Deer, Clive, and Ponoka have been hosting teacher parades giving students the opportunity to see them while maintaining social distancing measures. Many teachers decorated their vehicles with balloons, streamers or washable paint donning encouraging messages to their students.

In response, students create their own signs thanking their teachers for their support as they stand in their drive ways and on the sidewalks patiently waiting to say a quick hello to their favourite teacher.

Be sure to check your child’s school notifications to ensure that they don’t miss out on the chance to see their favourite teachers and spread some cheer.

Here are some upcoming parades to take note of:

  • Beacon Hill Car Parade in Sylvan Lake at 11:00 AM, April 9th
  • Annie L. Gaetz in Red Deer at 2:30 PM, April 9th
