The Red Deer Polytechnic Athletics has wrapped up another successful year. In total, five championship banners were claimed by the Kings and Queen’s. Four of the titles were won by women’s teams this year. These banners will be hung in the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre rafters.

In October, the Queens soccer team won its first ever Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) championship in program history.

In March, the Queens Basketball team earned their first gold medal in more than 30 years. In that same month, the women’s hockey team won their second gold medal. The Indoor Track team also saw victory for the first time in their program history as well.

“Seeing women’s soccer and women’s basketball win their ACAC Championships was huge and a long time coming. Women’s Indoor Track was also very impressive,” said Randy Stewart, Manager of Athletics and Student Life.

Finally, the Kings Hockey team won their first gold medal in 29 years and ninth in program history.
