No one was injured, and the cause is still under investigation after a fire broke out at a home on Hanging Stone Drive near the Lacombe airport Thursday evening.

Around 7 pm, a neighbor called 9-11 after seeing smoke and flames coming from the back of the house.  According to Lacombe Fire Chief Eric Graham, the people in the home at the time didn't even realize there was a dangerous situation unfolding around them.

“The property owner was at the front of the house, he mentioned that there was two of them in the house at the time. The neighbors had knocked on their door, and they didn’t even know the back of their house was on fire until the neighbor had notified them.”

Graham says they were able to get things under control in about an hour.

“We did manage to contain it to pretty much the outside of the house. Most of the windows on the back unfortunately due to the heat, were compromised. So there was a little bit of smoke and water damage in the house, but overall we left the house in pretty good conditions.”

Graham says investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
