A DJ who is normally spinning records and dropping beats at weddings and graduations this time of year is instead using his skills and free time to put on a 12 hour, ‘Fresh & Favourites For McMurray Fundraising Live DJ Mix’ for the people of flood-ravaged Fort McMurray.

JD Hunter, who currently lives in Leslieville but was originally from Fort McMurray and lived there during the wildfire 4 years ago, said it's his way of giving back to the community, the best way he knows how.

“Raising support for the Wood Buffalo Food Bank, the Salvation Army of Fort McMurray, and the Samaritan's Purse, which are three amazing organizations who are doing incredible work right now in the region, and I’m also trying to raise some support as well for individuals and families who are displaced, who are in a really crazy situation right now waiting to go back home.”

Hunter's 12-hour Fundraising Live DJ Mix will start on Saturday, May 9th at noon and go until midnight at the Juiced Audio & Lighting building located at #19, 7895 49th Ave at the top of the north hill in Red Deer, where he will also be accepting donations online or in-person.

“If you wanted to be able to help support some families or individuals and you didn’t necessarily want to do the internet side, I will be accepting food donations, brand new clothing or very clean clothing with COVID going on right now, or gift cards for food and gas and that kind of stuff, I’ll be accepting all of that at the shop as well.”
