The Central Alberta Crime Prevention Centre will be hosting a charity garage sale this week starting on Thursday, August 19 to Sunday, August 22. On Sunday, you can grab items for 50 per cent.

The organization provides information to the public on how to stay safe from crime.

“The Central Alberta Crime Prevention Center provides education to residents about how to better protect themselves from crime. We provide information to businesses as well on how to protect themselves from being victims of crime,” said Denise Grace, Programs and Services Coordinator for the Central Alberta Crime Prevention Centre.

Grace says the organization has been able to operate virtual programming since the pandemic began but fundraisers have been a little bit more difficult to organize.

“Unfortunately, our Touch the Truck event had to be cancelled twice. We tried to hold it in 2020 and then 2021 and then we were just not able to.  We're looking forward to hopefully holding it in May of 2022,” she explained.

The funds raised from the garage sale will be going toward the Crime Prevention Centre and their programs and events that run each year.  Grace says those attending will find no shortage of great deals.

“We have a ton of items for the garage sale, way more than we had last year.  We hope that we'll have lots of people come down and take a look. We have some really great prices. All of our clothes are a dollar each. We have items for as low as twenty-five cents, fifty cents, a dollar. It's  pretty cheap,” said Grace.

You can check out the garage sale at the Pidherney Curling Centre located on 4727 43 Street in Red Deer.
