Although it is still months away, the Central Alberta Buccaneers Football Club is already preparing for their 2020 season.

Vincent Roth who is the Chairman for The Buccaneers says there really isn't an offseason.

“It’s a job that doesn’t end, Off-field it’s a constant job to be sourcing out sponsors and everything that goes with it."  “When it comes to the on-field side of things we start our indoor workouts every Saturday in February”

The Bucs work out at the Dome which is located on the East side of Gasoline Alley and is a state of the art indoor multi-sport facility. Practices are open to anyone, and there is a ten dollar fee.

When asked about returning players from last year Roth is very optimistic about it. “It looks like we have a pretty big chunk of our core roster coming back, so there will be quite a few familiar faces out there.”

The 2020 schedule 8 game schedule was released earlier this week and the Bucs first game will be on the road against the Calgary Wolfpack. Their first home game will be on June 6th against the Fort McMurray Monarchs.

Although the Central Alberta Buccaneers play in Red Deer at Great Chief Park they still keep their community involvement with Lacombe. Every year they do the Tackle For Hunger event to raise money and food for the Lacombe Food Bank. Roth says the food drive will be back, “It’s a staple of our program, and Lacombe has been great to us over the years. It’s a priority to us, and one of the first things we discuss when we start meetings in the off season.”
