If you’re looking for ways to celebrate your dad or a father figure in your life, Cranna Lake will be bustling with activity.

The Burman University and College Heights Seventh-Day Adventist Church will be hosting a free event for all families in the area. Coordinator, Ken Sheffield says anyone is welcome.

“We have a lot of people show up and it gets crazy. There's the free hot dogs, both vegetarian and beef. There's pop, water, and liquid to drink. Then there's the opportunity to use the canoes free of charge. You just have to sign a quick waiver and it's there to use. We've done this now for six or seven years,” explained Sheffield.

The canoes are borrowed from College Heights Christian School, and the Burman University’s Voyager canoes. If you’re new to canoeing, there is also help available.

“We've got people helping people load into the boats. If they have questions that can be answered. Life jackets are provided,” he added.

If you’re not up for leaving the shores of Cranna Lake, there will also be other games available.

“We've enjoyed every time we've had it out there operating and it's a fun day for everybody. There's some face painting happening, and we've got some larger lawn games like where you throw the bean bag through the hole and those kinds of things sitting around,” said Sheffield.

Although the event is being held for Father’s Day, Sheffield says anyone is welcome to take part.

“We have no age limit the children come with their fathers. The mothers come with their children because sometimes there aren’t fathers in the home anymore. These opportunities are here for everybody to use and operate,” he added.

The Father’s Day Event at Cranna Lake will be on Sunday, June 18 from 10:00AM to 4:00PM.
