It was another busy and successful weekend for The  RDP Kings and Queens Soccer and Cross Country teams.

The Cross Country Running team earned first and the Queens placed third at Grand Prix #3 in Edmonton. Lacombe’s Daniel Szucs (27:49) finished fourth among Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) male competitors over 8 km. Jenica Swartz (24:09) led the Queens over 6 km, capturing second among ACAC female runners.

The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens defeated the Broncos 4-2 in Olds. Stettler’s Alisha Coules and Japan’s Sein Furuyama scored two goals each.Queens goalkeeper Abby Kotyk made four saves. Kayla Yeo, a Practical Nurse Diploma student, was named the RDP Queens Player of the Game.

On Sunday, The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens(6-1-0) downed the SAIT Trojans (6-1-0) by a score of 2-1 in Calgary. The two teams share first place in the south. Furuyama and Grace Smith recorded goals for the Polytechnic. Furuyama continues to lead the league with 19 goals.

The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings received a goal from first-year striker Ashton Chipman in the 85th minute, tying the Olds College Broncos 1-1 on the road. Kings Player of the Game Jared St. Thomas was outstanding in net. The second-year Kinesiology Fitness and Health student turned aside nine shots.
