Alberta Health Services (AHS) is expanding the adult support program in Rimbey next month.

Evening support will be available to local home care clients who have physical and memory challenges, or chronic illnesses.

Effective April 2, the adult day support program will expand to include an evening program option on Tuesday and Thursday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. The program will be held at the Rimbey Provincial Building and Courthouse (5025 55 St).

Adult day support programs will continue to be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The programs provide home care clients with additional assistance to remain living in the community as long as possible, and provide socialization, respite and education for caregivers, and professional services, including rehabilitation, social work, nursing, and on-site access to physician services.

Those interested in attending the programs must be a home care client aged 18 or older who need two or more services offered in the program. A referral and assessment by home care is also required.
