Over the September long weekend, my family and I decided to take a day trip off west towards the Nordegg area. Over the past 15 years or so, this has become our "place to go" to just get away. In the area is the Hamlet of Nordegg with the historical coal mine, Goldeye Lake Education Centre, Crescent Falls, Abraham Lake  and our favorite, Siffleur Falls.

Siffleur Falls are located just off The David Thompson Highway (Highway 11). The hike consists of three different parts: a trail to the suspension bridge, A boardwalk through the ecological area, and a mountain hike through the forest up to the falls. For the most part it is a beginner hike with some steep inclines through the forest area. Depending on how fast you fast it would probably take you about 90 minutes both ways.

Once you reach the falls, it will take your breath away. They are spectacular. In fact the whole hike has some great scenery all around it.

If you are going with pets or small children, you do have to be very careful as there are some dangerous drop off cliffs just off the main paths.

I hope you will have a chance to head there someday soon. I highly recommend it.
