Hello, I’m Kim Kay – the News Director and Morning News Anchor for Sunny 94. I’m pretty much an everyday mom, who just puts one foot in front of the other each and every day to try and tackle the demands of a busy household. I’ve been on the airwaves at Sunny 94 for ten years, minus a couple of interruptions to add two busy boys to my family. I’m passionate about our community and I love telling stories, which is my motivation for waking up to a 3:30 am alarm clock every day.
Home for me is in east central Alberta. I grew up south of the Village of Halkirk on the family farm. My Mom and Dad and two brothers own and operate a seed farm, this year planting roughly four thousand acres. Growing up I was a regular farm kid, with chores; chickens to feed, 4H steers to take care of, cattle to help round up, and meals to be made. It’s made me enjoy the simple things in life.
My husband Rieley and I also own and operate a restaurant in downtown Lacombe, Cilantro and Chive. We first opened the doors in Ponoka four years ago, but made the move to Lacombe in 2015 and have never looked back. It’s been a lifelong dream for Rieley who was introduced to the industry during his very first job as a dishwasher.
The community of Lacombe has been amazing to our family and we strive every day to support others and give back. It’s so true the people are what makes Lacombe great!
Keys to my heart: sweets, chai tea, jewelry, a full house, and a country drive.
