The Youth and Volunteer Centre in Red Deer has rebranded themselves.

Celebrating their 40th milestone this year, the organization decided to change their name to Youth HQ.

The change is to better reflect their belief that every youth has potential, said Board Chair Kris Fleckenstein.

Although the name has changed, Fleckenstein said their philosophy will stay the same.

“This is your place to ask the tough questions, this is your place to have fun, this is your place to learn new things, this is a place for you to meet new people,” said Fleckenstein.

“For community members, it can be your place to build your community and to volunteer.”

Fleckenstein added the new identity will allow Youth HQ to build greater recognition within the community and will encourage more youth to check out their services.

“We’re serving darn-near 2,000 kids a year and that’s great, but I always ask the question ‘why can’t we serve more?',” said Fleckenstein.

Fleckenstein said Youth HQ hope to gain greater public awareness for their programs and services such as the Boys and Girls Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Camp Alexo, and the 49th Street Youth Shelter.

Youth HQ is located at 4633 49th Street in Red Deer.
