Saturday night (Aug 26th), at approximately 9:35 p.m., Wetaskiwin RCMP Detachment responded to call to assist EMS at apartment building complex in Wetaskiwin where a male was found unresponsive with serious life threatening injuries.

The male was transported to Wetaskiwin hospital where he succumbed to those injuries a short time later.

Upon their arrival, police immediately contained the scene, which is currently being examined by the RCMP’s Forensic Identification Section (FIS). Investigators from the RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit – South (MCU) have assumed carriage of the file and are working with members from the Wetaskiwin RCMP Detachment as they investigate the circumstances surrounding this death.

Additional details are not available at this time as the investigation is ongoing, however, any new information will be disclosed through an updated media release.

RCMP would like to advise this incident is not related to a separate investigation which was reported on Aug. 25, 2017.
