Wednesday, Environment Canada extended their Extreme Cold Warnings for the entire Province of Alberta.

The weather was so cold that according to the national weather agency, 15 new record low temperatures were set on Monday.

The coldest centre in Alberta was Red Deer with a new record temperature of -43.9.C The previous record of -40.6 C happened way back in 1936.

Lacombe also joined the list on Monday with a record cold temperature of -40.5 C. It was a slight drop from the previous record in 1936 of -39.4 C.

These cold temperatures are forecast to last up until at least Saturday with daytime highs of only -25 C.

We could see a bit of a reprieve on Sunday with expected temperatures hovering around -16 C.
