A Citizens Advisory Group will be created in Innisfail, tasked to take action on the findings of a Seniors Needs Assessment conducted in 2016.

In order to help support aging in place in the community, Innisfail CAO Todd Becker says they need some solid plans in place that this group will help lead.

“Their ultimate responsibility is to review that document, the Seniors Needs Assessment, and start formulating an action plan for council to consider and ultimately adopt.  They’ll be engaging other stakeholders that are associated with seniors needs and trying to pull together a detailed master plan to meet the senior’s greatest needs in the community”.

Becker says that needs assessment identified a few areas where residents would like to see improvements.

“Two that were identified in that report were housing and inclusion, and engagement, so communications”.

Community and health services and transportation were also on the needs improvement list.

The Town is currently accepting applications from residents interested in serving on the new advisory group.
