With the continued snowfall into Tuesday evening, Central Alberta highways are in poor condition.

There have been multiple reports of vehicles hitting the ditch and slippery snow covered roads. Some listeners to Sunny 94 have said that it has taken over 90 minutes to travel between Red Deer and Lacombe.

Most drivers are also reporting reduced visibility.

There are two ongoing issues with semi-trucks hitting the ditch. One these is on highway 2a between Blackfalds and Red Deer just under the railway bridge. Traffic in that area is down to one lane of alternating traffic with traffic controllers in place.

The other issue is on the QE2 Northboud lanes just north of Red Deer as a semi-trailer has jack knifed and has the left hand lane blocked.

Expect major delays in these areas.

Another 2 cms of snow is expected tonight with wind gusts to 50 km/hr so watch for blowing snow. You can check out the full forecast here
