From Red Deer RCMP:

A woman and man are in custody after robbing a bank in north Red Deer Wednesday afternoon by threatening the teller with a needle.

Red Deer RCMP were called to the CIBC located at 6721 50 Avenue at 5 pm on January 17th, in response to a report that a woman had robbed the bank wielding a needle, then fled on foot with a man who was waiting for her outside the bank. No one was injured in the robbery.

RCMP began searching for the suspects immediately and quickly located the pair near Piper Drive. The pair were arrested without incident, after a brief foot chase involving the female suspect. RCMP seized the cash taken in the robbery, the needle alleged to have been used in the robbery and what is believed to be oxycodone.

47 year old Diana Lynn Ferchuk was wanted on warrants out of Red Deer and Blackfalds at the time of her arrest and now faces the following additional charges:

  • Criminal Code 344(1)(b) – Robbery with weapon
  • Criminal Code 129(a) – Resist/ obstruct peace officer
  • CDSA 4(1) – Possession of Schedule I substance

Ferchuk has been remanded to appear in court in Red Deer on January 26 at 9:30 am.

27 year old Christopher Craig Hofer was wanted on warrants out of Red Deer and Calgary at the time of his arrest. He now faces the following additional charges:

  • Criminal Code 344(1)(b) – Armed robbery
  • CDSA 4(1) – Possession of Schedule I substance

Hofer has been remanded to appear in court in Red Deer on January 26 at 9:30 am.
