Returning to Lacombe for the 35th consecutive year, the Vintage Tractor Pull Parade returned on Father's day weekend (June 16).

The sound of rugged engines, the smell of pancakes, pristine vintage cars, trucks and tractors in every direction, was only part of the experience at the parade.

The event featured a pancake breakfast, a display of antique tools from the museum of farm treasures, rides for children, a tractor pull event, and to end the day, a supper that started at 6 pm.

Operating the help desk, local resident Gary Thompson, who later participated in the tractor pull, said he's worked on tractors for 65 years and feels events like this help preserve the culture surrounding the life of a farmer.

Thompson, who owned two vintage tractors at the parade, talked a bit about the different types of people at the parade.

"Over 100 tractors have been hauled in to be displayed and showed off; some people take it real serious, others just want to show off their handiwork and have fun"

For $5.00, the event was an interesting opportunity to look back in time.
