With so many feeling trapped inside their homes during this pandemic it's nice to see that the lake rinks are officially now open in Sylvan.

The fluctuating temperatures have made it tough this year to get the rinks ready to go, but now families are able to hit the ice and enjoy the outdoors.

The Town of Sylvan Lake does have some restrictions in place for those wanting to use the ice surfaces:

Vehicular traffic beyond the parking lots is NOT recommended; in fact, any ice beyond the ice rink area is not maintained or monitored by the Town, so enter at your own risk, and use extreme caution.

COVID rules:

  • Do not gather for social purposes, and enjoy the space with your household members.
  • Maintain physical distance - if the rinks are too busy to do this upon your arrival, we ask you to consider coming another day/time when it's not as busy.
  • stay home if you're feeling symptomatic.
  • Sticks are not permitted on the tree rink (west rink surface).
  • Vehicles are not permitted on the ice rink surfaces.
  • Ice conditions may change with little notice, and the Town reserves the right to partially or fully close the rinks at any time.
  • Also please note that a third large rink will be added in a few weeks, near the shore by Centennial Park/40 Street (this will be for day use only).
