On February 7, 2017 following an investigation into counterfeiting and weapons offences, Sylvan Lake RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence in Ryders Ridge.

The RCMP seized numerous printers, counterfeit Canadian and U.S. currency as well as other materials commonly used for the production of counterfeit currency.

Two adults were arrested without incident and charged as follows:


44-year-old Bradley James Mulder of Red Deer has been charged with possessing counterfeit currency and possession of a restricted weapon.

A bail hearing was held for Mulder and he has been released to attend court on February 24, 2017 at the Provincial Court of Alberta in Red Deer.


32-year-old Nicole Armstrong of Sylvan Lake has been charged with several Criminal Code offences relating to the possession and production of counterfeit currency, identity theft, possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Armstrong has been released to appear in court on March 3, 2017 at the Provincial Court of Alberta in Red Deer.


A further charge of Uttering counterfeit money has been laid in relation to an incident which happened in Stettler on January 11, 2017 and Armstrong is scheduled to appear in court in Stettler on March 9, 2017.
