Tyson Parker is a VIP (Very Important Patient) for STARS and knows first hand how important the service is to Central Alberta.

In 2005, Tyson and a friend were coming back from a day of boating on Pigeon Lake when they were involved in a head on collision on highway 2a near Leduc. He suffered from multiple injuries and says that he doesn’t remember anything from that day.

Tyson started a commitment to life fundraiser in 2007 which began as a small dinner for just family and friends but grew bigger each year. “it just kind of snowballed, we are actually at over $750,000 dollars in just over ten years.”

Tyson says that in the years that followed, his life didn’t change that much. Because of STARS he  was able to everything that they said I wouldn’t be able to do.

“I was able to continue on with school, graduated from NAIT, and now I’m working in Edmonton”

And why should we support STARS? “ We are very fortunate to have a service like this, if we ever need it. If it wasn’t for STARS, I would have had a different outcome or potentially no outcome at all.”

The Sunny 94 STARS Critical Care On The Air radiothon continues until 6 pm tomorrow evening. Please call 1-877-50-STARS or donate here
