Alea Cox is a STARS VIP(Very Important Patient) who maybe wouldn’t be alive today if it weren’t for STARS and how quick they got her to the University of Alberta Hospital.

In June, 2009, Alea was involved in an MVC on a gravel road near Calmar. It was a crash involving a truck that t-boned her vehicle. When asked if it is hard to talk about she said  “It’s actually very easy for me to talk about this, because I don’t remember anything for about 28 days after the crash”  Alea was on life support in an Edmonton hospital for about 3 weeks.

Because the crash took place in a rural area, STARS was called in to assist and transport Alea to the hospital. “They landed in a farmer’s field, and they told my family that I would be at the hospital in less than 8 minutes.”  Where the crash was located, it would have been about a 40 minute drive by regular ambulance.

Alea says she is so thankful and supportive of STARS and did not receive any bill from STARS for the treatment.
